Accelerated Cure Project Partners with Curbside.MD to Provide Patients and Physicians With Timely, Comprehensive Answers to Questions About Multiple Sclerosis
(Waltham, MA) -- The Accelerated Cure Project for Multiple Sclerosis has partnered with Praxeon, Inc., a Boston-based life sciences company which has developed a patent pending search engine currently focused on supporting investigation of neurological diseases. The search engine, Curbside.MD, is an easy- to-use research tool for patients, researchers and physicians to keep up to date on the latest clinical trials, symptoms, treatments and research results. Access to Curbside.MD is now available from the Accelerated Cure Project website, www.acceleratedcure.org.
The complexity and ambiguity of Multiple Sclerosis directly challenges a sense of patient empowerment, says Art Mellor, founder and CEO of Accelerated Cure Project. Patients are in need of a reliable and trusted source of medical information about MS and Curbside.MD fills that void. Its also a great forum for sharing critical information about this disease among physicians, researchers and patients with MS.
Curbside.MD utilizes Praxeon's patent-pending semantic fingerprinting technology. This technology uses a sophisticated model of medical terminology to extract the meaning and relationships of words within any unstructured text source. With Curbside.MD users can enter naturally phrased clinical questions to search evidence based material, making this an ideal resource for anyone who wants to learn more about the disease. The more details users enter, the more accurate the search results. Currently, Curbside.MD revolves primarily around neurological diseases and drugs. But content is being loaded from many other specialties in medicine.
We built Curbside.MD after realizing the difficulties physicians and patients have in finding evidence based answers to their clinical questions, says Nick Encina, President and COO of Praxeon. Physicians are daunted by the prospect of reading, retaining and synthesizing all new health care knowledge. And such a comprehensive understanding of a clinical area is rarely available at the time of greatest need, at the point of clinical care.
Generic, non-specialized search engines don't always bring back the best material. There are also many on-line textbooks and reviews available, but even these can be difficult to access, search and may be incomplete. Curbside.MD fills the void by allowing for naturally phrased clinical questions to draw from premier, evidence-based material.
Once a question is posed, Curbside.MD displays a results page. The results summary page provides a first glimpse into the search results. Curbside.MD has made finding answers easy by dividing the results into easy to navigate categories including best hits, visual diagnosis, quick consult, best evidence and clinical trials. About Accelerated Cure Project
Accelerated Cure Project for Multiple Sclerosis,
www.acceleratedcure.org, is a national nonprofit organization
dedicated to curing Multiple Sclerosis (MS) by determining its
causes. Accelerated Cure Project believes this effort can be
accelerated by organizing the research process and encouraging
collaboration between research organizations and clinicians. A
"Cure Map" is currently being developed by the Accelerated
Cure Project to establish what is known and what is not known about
the causes of MS. From the Cure Map, Accelerated Cure Project will
facilitate research most likely to reveal the causes of MS in the
shortest time through a large-scale, multidisciplinary, MS Repository. For more information about the Accelerated Cure
Project or to make a corporate or individual donation, call
781/487-0008, visit acceleratedcure.org, or send an email to info-web1207_no_spam_please_@i_mean_it.no_spam_whatsoever.acceleratedcure.org.
